The Association of African Students in India – AASI was founded in the year 1961 by the late former president of Malawi, Prof. Dr, Bingu Wa Mutharika who was a student at the Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi. After a long duration of inactivity, AASI re-emerge in 2010 and has been active ever since. AASI is a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious educational association that represents all African students in India. AASI organizes an annual graduation ceremony that is aimed at congratulating African students who have successfully completed their studies in India. The graduation also serves as a medium to encourage African Students to focus more on their studies and be good ambassadors of our great continent – Africa! African Heads of Mission, diplomats, and student country representatives attend the ceremony and are awarded a certificate of acknowledgment and encouragement.
